'From Mainstream to SEND' - A blog by Zoe Cross (Supply Teacher)

Zoe Cross joined Academic Appointments in 2015 with the intention to work on a supply basis, fitting in perfectly with personal commitments to her family business. However, it wasn't long before she began working regularly in our partner schools. Recognising Zoe's potential, our SEND Specialist; Olivia called Zoe with an opportunity to work on supply in a specialist school, Zoe jumped at the challenge, and hasn't looked back since! Read about her experience below:

"I had a fantastic opportunity presented to me by Academic Appointments to work in a SEN setting, after a few weeks in the role knew I wanted to work permanently in a more specialised provision rather than a mainstream school.

I shared this with my contacts at Academic Appointments and they contacted me with a post as a SEMH teacher. This was new territory for me, but I knew that with the right support from the school and Academic Appointments, I could give this my all! Pete & Olivia visited me in the school environment and discussed with Senior Leaders the positive impact I was making. After a successful interview for a full-time permanent post, the agency worked hand in hand to meet all my requirements.

Thank you Academic Appointments, I now have my dream full-time job."

Thank you to Zoe for sending us the above, we wish you all the best in your permanent venture!
