Caretakers are required for a variety of short and long term contracts in the Leeds and surrounding area.
Duties and responsibilities would include:
carrying out security procedures for school building and grounds;
opening and closing of school premises;
preventing trespassers and ensuring that unauthorised parking of vehicles does not occur;
responding when school alarm is set off and re-setting;
endeavouring to ensure that required temperatures are maintained in school premises and that an adequate supply of hot water is available;
carrying out frost precaution procedures;
maintaining the boiler house and plant in a safe, clean and tidy order;
replacing light bulbs/tubes if necessary and reporting any defects in lighting/heating systems;
contributing to the cuties laid down in the cleaning frequency chart for a proportion of the week;
reporting to the appropriate authorities, via the Head teacher, any repair or maintenance work required at the school which is beyond the caretaking staff;
supervision of the school cleaners to ensure that cleaning work is carried out to the recognised satisfactory standard and at the frequencies laid down and that all work is carried out safely;
taking delivery of stores, materials, and other goods and safely storing them;
ensuring that adequate supplies of fuel and cleaning materials are available;
ensuring the caretaking and cleaning equipment is in safe working order;
providing safe access to the school and classrooms where required in the event of snow, ice, minor flooding or similar emergencies;
carrying out necessary procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or major damage;
other miscellaneous duties as and when required.
