Going Gold for Candlelighters... again by Danni Johnson

On Wednesday the 11th of September, Academic Appointments went Gold to raise awareness for Children's Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM).

The challenge was set, who could come in, in the best 'Gold' themed fancy dress? Chris Salt from Candlelighters was lined up to judge and a GOLD bottle of fizz sat waiting for the winner.

Well after some frantic shopping around for a Goldilocks outfit, I ended up as Cleopatra... yes I know extremely different ends of the spectrum but all the Goldilocks costumes had gone... and it's not even World Book Day until March?? Anyway on went the wig (which was very itchy!) and in I came, sure to win but it wasn't that simple. Now normally our team are quite relaxed when it comes to fancy dress and well shall we say, don't embrace the 'all or nothing' attitude, like me, but I was to be proven wrong this time.

Our Permanent Recruitment Consultant, Sally 'stole' the recently married, Liz Ward's hen do outfit and came as what could only be described as Elton John - Chris's words not mine!

BUT... the winner... well Kerry, our SEND Coordinator, really thought this one out. She'd cut and stuck a load of 'Kerrygold butter' labels all over herself, along with a couple of slices of toast! Genious. A well-deserved winner. I'm not bitter at all.

Alongside all this fancy dress fun we also held a gold-themed tombola which as usual went down very well in the Leeds HQ. Prizes were won and we managed to raise a lovely £45 towards our £2,000 target.

Thank you to all the guys at AA who consistently make the effort to support Candlelighters and thank you to all of you who have sponsored us already.

We also managed to get Chris to wear the wig.... haha! Doesn't he look great!
