The Fresh Prince of Saltaire – Scott's progression with Academic Appointments

The Fresh Prince of Saltaire

I joined Academic Appointments back in 2016, initially as a resourcer. I had never done any type of sales before and not had experience within the education recruitment sector, so this was the ideal way to build experience and knowledge within education but more importantly begin to build relationships with Candidates.

After 6 months with the business I was promoted to Consultant and given the opportunity to build  my own desk in an area where the company didn’t have a particularly strong presence. I quickly built up a respectable client list of using schools and developed great candidate relationships, many of whom still regularly work for me.

At the start of the following Academic Year I was given the opportunity  to open a satellite office in Saltaire to specifically support and grow our Bradford client and candidate base. This was a fantastic opportunity and enabled us to show clients we were serious about being the best “local” Education provider our unique selling point. In early 2019 I was joined in the branch by a very experienced Primary Recruitment specialist (Sophie) who had strong client and candidate relationships and the office continued to flourish I was also promoted to Senior Consultant in recognition of the positive performance of the Bradford Office.

2020 in the Bradford office was shaping up to be our “best year ever” and although Covid meant things came a temporary stand still. This didn’t stop the Bradford office going from strength to strength. We maintained regular contact with our clients and candidates throughout this difficult period and ensured we were ready to meet any needs as an when the schools fully reopened.

September 2020, we recorded the highest figures for a first term start, and I was promoted to  Business Manager as a result of this.

Academic Appointments have always encouraged, guided and given me opportunities to push myself and develop my career. The business has an ethos of promoting from within wherever possible and my career thus far demonstrates that hard work, honesty, integrity and determination does pay off.

We support Secondary, Primary and SEN /Alternative provisions across the greater Bradford region as for the future we are on the lookout for additional team members as we want to push more into the Calderdale/Kirklees market.
