Leeds Safeguarding Week - By Karen Thompson, Academic Appointment's Safeguarding Lead
The 24th June - 30th June is Leeds Safeguarding week so I thought it would be an ideal time to remind our clients, candidates and parents, of children taught by someone from Academic appointments, of the steps we take to ensure safeguarding is at the heart of what we do.
This is a brief overview of the checks we do...
Candidates are asked to provide:
Update checks are carried out on a regular basis and we offer a range of ongoing professional development.
Many agencies are REC accredited, but not all like Academic Appointments have been awarded the ‘Gold Standard’. A standard we maintained after a rigorous audit at the beginning of the year where a selection of randomly selected files was sampled to ensure all criteria had been met.
Not everyone who applies to work for Academic Appointments meets our stringent safeguarding checks – so you can all be assured that if they work for Academic Appointments – they do! We do not put anyone in a position they are not trained or experienced work in.
If you would like details of what each step of our initial recruitment, our 12-Point check and on-going checks entail, please do give us a call where we would be more than happy to elaborate.
Leeds Safeguarding Children Partnership is holding various events across the city too, view the timetable here.
