Estate Manager

Academic Appointments are currently working alongside a college in Wakefield who are currently recruiting an Estates Manager. There will be some travel involved to their other sites in Bradford and Doncaster. This is an immediate requirement, looking for a start as soon as possible. This role can be full or part time. 
 
Purpose of the Role:

To take responsibility for the management of services and processes to support the provision of safe and legally compliant campus operations in all academies across the Trust. These may include procurement, contract management, grounds and building’s maintenance, cleaning, security, utilities infrastructure and space management.

Duties include:

In collaboration with the Trust Health and Safety Manager, ensure the implementation of existing, new and forthcoming legislation in relation to health and safety, buildings and estates; report on and ensure compliance across the Trust.
Manage the logistics of the role, moving between sites as and when demand requires.
To lead in planning, implementing and reviewing the three-year Estates Strategy in strategic planning.
In collaboration with the Trust Health and Safety Manager, ensure the implementation of existing, new and forthcoming legislation in relation to health and safety, buildings and estates; report on and ensure compliance across the Trust.
Manage the logistics of the role, moving between sites as and when demand requires.
To lead in planning, implementing and reviewing the three-year Estates Strategy in strategic planning.
To plan repairs and maintenance within the context of the three-year Estates Strategy as well as plan essential services of maintenance, security, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling.
To manage the Site Teams, including management of the work rota, in the provision of safe and secure campuses, constantly reviewing the estates to ensure student and staff safety.
To carry out building and site inspections on a sample basis.
In collaboration with the Trust Health and Safety Manager, ensure contractors working on sites have appropriate safety plans and risk assessments in place, and are operating these properly in practice.
To monitor the work of contractors, following up on any deficiencies and supervise the minor works programme.
To liaise with contracted consultants and staff in the design, build and maintenance of the Trust estates.
To lead on the development of all policies and procedures relating to estates, accommodation and environmental issues.
Take responsibility for setting up annual service contracts, ensuring they offer value for money and regularly monitoring them.
Liaise with the Trust insurers regarding policy renewals and claims and take responsibility for the recording of thefts and other security incidents on the Trust site.
To act as Trust Environmental ‘Champion’ to raise awareness and develop a Trust strategy covering environmental issues.
To maintain a working knowledge of developments in environmental issues including energy, waste disposal and recycling, packaging, chemicals and other relevant areas.
Take responsibility for the administration of music and other licenses (PPL, CLA, PRS) within the Trust, liaising and advising other staff as necessary.
To prepare and present regular reports of the current environmental position to the Trust board.
Take responsibility for ordering caretaking and maintenance supplies, being the budget holder for any Estates budgets ensuring compliance with Trust financial procedures.
To be responsible for the non-IT Assets Register.
To be responsible for ensuring PAT testing is carried out across the Trust.
To respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise.
To contribute towards the tender process, and operation of documents, calculating and comparing costs to achieve value for money.
Line management of site/cleaning staff, providing both technical and motivational leadership.
Undertake other tasks, as requested.
There is an expectation that this post will require some flexibility and evening work to support college/Trust events to ensure smooth running of the site.
