We’re currently recruiting Key Stage 2 Teachers to work on a supply basis across Wakefield and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for teachers who enjoy working with different pupils and schools, while having greater flexibility over the assignments they take on.

From stepping into a Year 3 classroom for a day to covering longer-term placements in Year 5 or Year 6, no two days need to look the same. You’ll have the opportunity to bring your own teaching style into a variety of settings while continuing to provide pupils with a consistent and positive learning experience.

What Could Your Day Look Like?
As a supply teacher, you’ll take responsibility for maintaining a productive and welcoming classroom wherever your placement takes you.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

• Taking over classes confidently and establishing a positive learning environment.
• Delivering lessons using school-provided plans and resources.
• Making sensible adjustments to activities where pupils require additional support or challenge.
• Keeping pupils engaged and encouraging them to take an active role in their learning.
• Maintaining clear expectations around behaviour and classroom routines.
• Supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
• Working alongside teaching assistants and other members of the school team.
• Recording relevant information and providing feedback to the class teacher where appropriate.
• Following individual school procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
• Ensuring pupils remain safe, supported and ready to learn throughout the school day.

We’re looking for someone with:

• QTS (UK Qualified Teacher Status)
• Previous experience teaching pupils within Key Stage 2.
• A secure understanding of the primary curriculum.
• The ability to take control of a classroom while creating a friendly and respectful atmosphere.
• Strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
• A flexible mindset and the confidence to adapt to different schools and teaching environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with pupils and staff.
• A professional and dependable approach to work.
• A current enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to apply for one.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children.
